Turku without Nazis demonstration will be held in Turku on Saturday 18th of August as a reaction to a demonstration held by the Nordic Resistance Movement on the same day. The demonstration will start with a march from Puolalanpuisto at 11.15 a.m. and continue with speeches, poetry and music beginning at 12 p.m back at Puolalanpuisto.
The Nordic Resistance Movement (NRM) is an openly racist group and self-described revolutionary National Socialist organization. It’s members have been convicted of violent crime and even murder and as a whole, the organization is not afraid to use political violence as a way to further their agenda. This fall the Court of Appeals in Turku is going to decide whether the organizations is going to be banned in Finland. The NRM is exploiting the anniversary of the stabbings in Turku in order to protest the court and to further their hateful agenda. We at Turku without Nazis want to respect the victims of this tragedy and send a message that nazism and jihadism are really two sides of the same coin. Both ideologies strive to destroy our free democratic society by any means necessary.
There is no room for this kind of racist and violent action in Turku or anywhere else in the world. The Turku without Nazis demonstration is open to anyone who shares our values and is against a Neo-nazist organization marching on our streets. The demonstration is non-violent and condemns all violent behavior.
